He made his Premiership debut for QPR in the last game of the 1995/96 season against Nottingham Forest in May 1996 before the club were relegated to the Championship. Injuries caused a severe set back. A broken leg in the summer of 1997 was followed by a broken ankle the following year which kept him sidelined for nearly two seasons and in nine years, he only made some 71 appearances. The defender went on a one month loan to Bristol Rovers in November 2002, and following the arrival of new manager Ian Holloway, he was released in June 2003. He spent the following season at Barnet making 42 appearances, and was transferred to Peterborough United on 3 September 2004 for a £30,000 fee. Despite a spell on the sidelines in 2005/06 due to testicular cancer, Chris recovered and went on loan to Grays Athletic in October 2006, before arriving at Nene Park on loan in 17 November 2006.

After just two appearances, he returned to Peterboroughbefore announcing his retirement from the professional game on 11 December 2006 following the cancellation of his contract. He went into the financial services industry, although he joined Peterborough Northern Star of the UCL Division One in August 2007 where he assisted with training, before becoming their player-manager in May 2009. He resigned as manager at the conclusion of the 2011/2012 season, and became Assistant Manager to Ian Sampson at Conference North side Corby Town on 22 May 2012. Following Sampson’s resignation on 1 September following five successive defeats, Chris became caretaker manager, and was appointed Manager on 12 September 2012. After two defeats in two games at the start of the 2013/2014 season however, he resigned as manager on 20 August 2013. On 14 February 2014, it was announced he had been appointed manager at UCL Division One side Peterborough Sports. He left that role 18 months later. No record of his involvement with the game has been found between 2016 to 2018.
