He returned on loan to Crawley on a season long loan at the start of the following season, but was recalled on 27 January 2007 in order to join Rushden on a permanent 18 month deal under Graham Westley. He was allocated the squad number 32.

Michael was a utility player, able to play in both defence and midfield, but following Garry Hill’s appointment as manager, he was released by mutual consent on 13 April 2007 and joined Ebbsfleet United on a free transfer during August. After a successful season with the Fleet, he joined Stevenage Borough on 20 May 2008, on a two year deal to link up with Graham Westley again following his appointment as Borough manager. He helped Stevenage to the Conference title at the end of the 2009/2010 season, and helped them gain promotion to League One the following season. After four successful seasons at Broadhall Way, Michael joined Championship side Peterborough United on 9 July 2012 for an undisclosed fee. He remained a Posh player until the end of the 2016-17 season, joining Lincoln City ahead of the following season. He then moved to Burton Albion in 2020, and from there was loaned to Stevenage at the start of 2022. His Wikipedia page is here.
