Danny began his career as a trainee with West Bromwich Albion, before joining Burton Albion in August 2004 at the age of 20. He played over 50 games for the Brewers before losing his place to Saul Deeney, and he subsequently went out on a one month loan at Moor Green in October 2006. He was offered full time football with Rushden & Diamonds and joined on 7 January 2006 until the end of the season. He made 8 appearances in the latter half of the 2005/06 season, but was unable to gain a place in the first team then following season following the arrival of Nicky Eyre.
He was released in October 2006 to join Lewes on a monthly contract. Cambridge United signed him in January 2007 but he quickly moved on to King’s Lynn Town before finishing the season with Bromsgrove Rovers. He joined Corby Town at the start of the 2007/08 season, where he stayed until signing for Solihull Moors in January 2008. Following a season and a half with the Conference North side, Danny joined Southern League Premier side Hednesford Town on 21 May 2010. He made some 219 appearances in four years for the Pitmen, helping them to promotion to the Conference North in 2011, and signed on again for the 2014/2015 season. After a short spell with Rushall Olympic he joined Bedworth United in September 2017. At the end of the 2018-19 season he moved to Gresley FC. He moved back to Bedworth for a short spell before retirement at the end of the 2020/21 season.
