(7 League, 1 Maunsell Cup)

Debut:

14 September 2004 (Home Northampton Town)

Lee began his career with the youth team at Wimbledon, progressing to the first team where he became a regular on the bench. He made several appearances for the Wales Under-18 and Under-21 sides and during his time in Milton Keynes, went out on an emergency loan at Wycombe Wanderers in April 2004. With the appointment of former Wimbledon coach Ernie Tippett at Nene Park, he was offered a contract with Rushden & Diamonds during the summer of 2004 as understudy to Billy Turley. Appearances were limited until Turley’s suspension in December when he became the first choice keeper, but after a succession of defeats, loan keepers were brought in and he made his final appearance for the club in March 2005.

Cardiff City signed him the following season, but he was limited to just a single appearance in the Welsh Cup and he went out on loan to Merthyr Tydfil during his time there. Lee returned to his birthplace in July 2006 to join Eastbourne Borough on a monthly contract, before joining Hastings United in October signing for 1½ years in January 2007. He left Hastings United on 16 May 2008 and joined Isthmian League Premier side Tonbridge Angels, helping them to promotion into the Conference South in May 2011. He signed a new deal in March 2012 to keep him at Longmead until the summer of 2013, but despite being offered a new contract, Lee made the decision to leave the club on 12 May 2013, after five seasons with the club, joining newly promoted Isthmian Premier side Maidstone United three days later. After a spell at Dorking Wanderers he joined Eastbourne Borough early in the 2021/22 season.

Debut:

11 September 2004 (Away Oxford United)

Jason was a product of the Youth set up at Nene Park, being offered a contract following his apprenticeship. His appearances were mainly limited to coming off the bench, although he made 9 starts for Diamonds before going out on loan to Nuneaton Borough for the latter part of the 2005/2006 season.

He was released by Diamonds at the end of the season and joined Rugby Town in July 2006 where he scooped several awards during his first year, scoring 24 goals. He was released during the summer, and joined Southern League Premier side Banbury United in August 2009. Simeon Jackson

Simeon Jackson

Born 28 March 1987 (Age 17 at debut)

Position: Forward

(Diamonds player #188)

Total appearances 104 – 43 goals

(90 League, 5 FA Cup, 5 FA Trophy, 4 Maunsell Cup)

Debut:

10 August 2004 (Away Northampton Town)

Final game:

29 January 2008 (Away Burton Albion)

Having previously had trials at Gillingham and Dulwich Hamlet, Simeon was being signed as a 15 year old scholar by Geoff Harrop and progressed through the Diamonds youth ranks. After a number of impressive performances for the U18’s and the reserves, Simeon was named on the bench a number of times at the end of the 2003 / 2004 season, but had to wait until the following season before making his debut.

His first taste of action in the League Two saw him coming off the bench in the local derby away at Northampton Town at the start of the 2004 / 2005 season. Simeon’s impressive performances brought him to the attention of a number of high profile clubs, and resulted in trials at both Manchester United and Manchester City. He went out on a one month loan to Raunds Town in December 2005, and towards the end of the 2005 / 2006 season, Simeon proved a revelation up front, scoring 5 goals in 16 appearances. He signed his first professional contract on 28 April 2006, keeping him at Nene Park until the summer of 2008. His form continued to improve into the 2006 / 2007 season scoring consecutive hat-tricks in September 2006 against Altrincham and Tamworth. By the end of the season, he was the club’s top scorer with a total of 19 goals. Although born in Jamaica, Simeon had spent the early part of his life with his parents in Canada and through them, qualified for the Canadian Under 20 side and he took part in the FIFA U20 World Cup in Canada.

Simeon Jackson turns Joel Kitamarike

Despite interest from League sides, Simeon agreed offered a three year contract in the summer of 2007 and scored scored some 18 goals in the first half of the following season attracting further interest in the January transfer window. On 31 January 2008, he signed a 3½ year contract with League One club Gillingham for a £150,000 transfer fee, plus a sell-on clause. He scored just four goals in the remaining games in the 2007 / 2008 season, but his 21 goals the following season saw him being linked with a number of Championship clubs. He won his first full International cap with Canada on 30 May 2009, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win over Cyprus and has since become a regular in the side. He finished his time at Gillingham with 42 goals from 115 appearances, before he signed a two year contract with Championship side Norwich City on 15 July 2010 for an undisclosed fee. After assisting Norwich into the Premiership, he was offered a further one year contract in May 2012. He made a total of 86 appearances for the Canaries, scoring 21 goals, before being released on 20 May 2013. On 10 July 2013, Simeon signed for newly promoted Bundesliga side Eintracht Braunschweig on a two-year deal. Simeon was released by the German side on 31 January 2014 after 9 appearances, and signed an end of season deal the following day with Championship side Millwall. He was released on a free transfer, and joined League One side Coventry City on 18 August 2014, on a one year deal. After short spells with Barnsley (2015) and Blackburn Rovers (2016) he joined Walsall for the 2016-17 season, remaining there for the following season apart from a loan spell at Grimsby Town from the start of 2018, before being released by the Saddlers at the end of the 2017-18 season. He signed for St Mirren in September 2018. His Wikipedia entry is here.

Phil Gulliver

Phil Gulliver

Born 12 September 1982 (Age 21 at debut)

Position: Defender

(Diamonds player #187)

Total appearances 142 – 7 goals

(114 League, 8 FA Cup, 4 FA Trophy, 7 League Cup, 3 League Trophy, 4 Hillier Senior Cup, 2 Maunsell Cup)

First spell

Debut: 10 August 2004 (Away Northampton Town)

Final game: 6 May 2006 (Home Barnet)

Second spell

Debut : 4 August 2007 (Home Northampton Town)

Final game: 18 October 2008 (Away York City)

Phil has had two spells with Diamonds. He initially joined the club on 30 June 2004 after being released by Middlesbrough where he had been an apprentice. He played a vital role in central defence throughout the following two seasons, winning ‘Player of the Season’ in 2005/2006. After declining a contract for the next season, Phil signed for Hereford United in May 2006, but a misunderstanding over compensation led to a delay in signing, although agreement was eventually reached.

Although he won ‘Player of the month’ in December 2006, he failed to settle into a regular place at Edgar Street, and was released from his Hereford contract at the end in May 2007, re-signing the Diamonds on 29 May 2007, initially on a one year contract.

After impressing during that season he was offered a further contract which was to keep him at Nene Park until the end of the 2008/2009 season, but after a proposed move to Corby Town broke down midway through the season, and he left the club on 14 November 2008 to join Oxford City until January 2009. Corby Town renewed their interest in signing Phil, and he joined the Steelmen on 1 January 2009, taking over the captains armband and helping them to the Southern League Premier Division title. After 3½ years at Corby Town, he left in the summer of 2012, to join newly promoted Northern Premier League Division One South side King’s Lynn Town on 5 July 2012. After some 61 appearances for the Linnets, Phil was released on 30 September 2013. No record of his involvement with the game has been found between 2014 and 2018.

Position: Midfielder

(Diamonds player #186)

Total appearances 40 – 6 goals

(36 League, 2 FA Cup, 1 League Cup, 1 League Trophy)

Debut:

Hartlepool born midfielder Craig started his career with the youth set up at Middlesborough signing his first contract in 2002. He made just two first team appearances for them, and spent October 2003 on loan to York City, before being released in May 2004. Manager Ernie Tippett brought Craig (and Phil Gulliver) to Nene Park on 2 July 2004 as Diamonds tried to rebuild following relegation from Division 2. He became a first-team regular in the 2004 / 2005 season and perhaps his most memorable game for the Diamonds was the holiday period game at Leyton Orient at the end of 2004, where he scored a spectacular goal. He was released by Barry Hunter at the end of the season with the club.

DOVE

He spent the following season with Chester City, before going on loan to Forest Green Rovers in March 2006. He dropped down to the Northern Premier League with Buxton the following year, before moving across to join Kidsgrove Athletic of the Northern Premier League Division One South in July 2008. He played the early part of the season at full back, before reverting to his more natural midfield role. He became club captain for the 2011/2012 season, playing in the left back role. In January 2014, he joined North West Counties Premier Division side Alsager Town as player / assistant manager. He left there to pursue a career in Estate Agency.

He has made a number of appearances for Northern Ireland at all levels up to the under-21’s.

On 6 August 2004 he joined Rushden & Diamonds on a one month loan deal, which was later extended to three months. On return to Millwall, he immediately went to Canvey Island, again on loan for two months. Kevin was eventually released from Millwall in January 2007 and returned to Northern Ireland to join Portadown in the Carnegie Premier League. After over 250 appearances for Portadown he moved on to Glenavon for three seasons, before spending 2017/18 with Ballymena United. Born 14 October 1981 (Age 22 at debut)

Position: Forward

(Diamonds player #184)

Total appearances 46 – 3 goals

(42 League, 2 FA Cup, 1 League Cup, 1 League Trophy)

Debut:

7 August 2004 (Home Kidderminster Harriers)

Final game:

7 May 2005 (Away Macclesfield Town)

Born in Birkenhead, Alex started his career at Tranmere Rovers, turning professional in 1999. He made his debut some two years later and went on the make over 50 appearances for the club. During his time at Prenton Park, Alex enjoyed successful loan spells at Altrincham (October 2000) and Morecambe (January 2002) where he scored four goals in a 5-0 thrashing of Gresley Rovers. He stayed at Morecambe until the end of the season. In his time at Tranmere he also played with ex-Diamond Paul Hall who recommended the club to him following his release at the end of the 2003 / 2004 season. He joined Diamonds on 24 May 2004, becoming one of Ernie Tippett’s first signings. He struggled to find the net on a regular basis for Diamonds, only scoring three times in 46 appearances. Although he was given a long run in the side at the start of the season, once Barry Hunter took charge of the side he was not selected as a first choice striker on too many occasions.

hay

He was released after just one season and after an unsuccessful trial at Accrington Stanley, joined Bangor City in August 2005, but left mid-season to join Vauxhall Motors. In June 2006, he returned to Wales and joined Rhyl for the season, before joining Cammell Laird of the Northern Premier the following season (2007/2008). After two years, Alex returned to Wales, joining Northern Premier Division One North side Colwyn Bay on 19 June 2009. On 8 November 2009, he took up the post of player/manager with his former club Cammell Laird (now in the Northern Premier Division One South) at the age of just 28, but resigned from his position on 16 November 2010. He became chief scout for Chester in September 2011. After scouting appointments at Tranmere Rovers, Eastleigh and Stockport County he became chief scout with AFC Fylde in 2016.

Rob Gier

Rob Gier

Born 6 January 1980 (Age 24 at debut)

Position: Defender

(Diamonds player #183)

Total appearances 74 – 2 goals

(67 League, 3 FA Cup, 2 League Cup, 2 League Trophy)

Debut:

7 August 2004 (Home Kidderminster Harriers)

Final game:

6 May 2006 (Home Barnet)

Rob had started his youth career with Ascot United before joining Wimbledon at an early age and earning a professional contract with the club. Although lacking the height of the more typical centre half, his understanding of the game was second to none. While with the Wimbledon Youth team, he was coached by Ernie Tippett and Stewart Robson, and when Tippett was appointed manager at Diamonds, Rob became one of his first signings on 24 May 2004, just prior to his former club becoming the MK Dons.

In his first season at the club under Tippett and then Barry Hunter, he played centre back alongside Phil Gulliver or Graham Allen (and latterly Mark Williams), but in his second season at the club he was converted by Hunter into playing a right back role, with Gulliver playing with a number of different centre-back partners. Following relegation at the end of the 2005/2006 season, he was released in May 2006.

gier

Rob joined Cambridge United for a brief period, before ending the season at Woking. In July 2007, he jpoined Aldershot Town and despite having helped them to the Conference title that season, he was released. He joined Grays Athletic in May 2008 on a one year contract, but was transfer listed in January 2009. It was during this period that he was called up for International duties with the Philippines National squad, and has earned three caps so far. On 12 November 2009, he signed for Hellenic League Premier Division side Ascot United, where he had begun his career. He stayed there until his retirement from the game in 2016.
