Leo started out as a trainee with Southend United, and went on to make over 130 appearances during his six years at Roots Hall. In March 2001, he went on loan to Stockport County, before signing for them in the summer. After playing regularly during the first half of the season, in February 2002, he went out on loan to Reading until the end of the season. He was released in May and joined Brentford in August 2002 where he spent a season and a half.

On 30 January 2004, Leo joined Rushden & Diamonds until the end of the season, making some 17 appearances in central defence.

He was released in May 2004 and joined Oxford United where he spent two seasons. He went on to play a few games for St.Albans City at the start of the 2007/2008 season, ending it as Harlow Town. He had a trial at Gillingham in July 2008 but despite impressing, failed to secure a contract. He subsequently joined Braintree Town of the Conference South on 7 November 2008, but following managerial changes at that club he was released and was able to re-sign for the Diamonds on 27th November 2008 at the age of 31 on non contract terms. After his only start in the Blue Square Premier, for Diamonds against Stevenage Borough on Boxing Day 2008, he left the club on 1 January 2009. He took up a career in personal training, having studied during the latter part of his football career. He joined Isthmian League Division One North side Harlow Town in February 2010. Leo left the club in July 2011 and retired from football to concentrate on his career as a Personal Trainer, before taking up boxing. His first fight was on 7 December 2013 in a super middleweight contest in London. He retired from boxing the following year.
