Andy had been at Chesham, Barnet, Stevenage Borough and Cambridge United before signing for Diamonds in March 1995. There was a question mark over the fitness of Kevin Fox and Martin Davies and with the fixture congestion getting worse as a result of Diamonds FA Trophy campaign so his arrival relieved the pressure on the Diamonds No.1. He made several appearances at the back end of the 1994 / 1995 season, but was on the bench for most of the following season before playing three more League games in April 1996. He was released at the end of the campaign, and joined Boreham Wood before moving on to sign for Hendon, St.Albans City and Bedford Town (where he linked up as assistant manager to Roger Ashby). Whilst at Bedford, he signed Conference forms in order to play Dagenham & Redbridge (managed by Garry Hill – who had brought him to St.Albans several years earlier). He finished his playing days with Berkhamsted Town.
